1. Stephanocoenia michelini

Stephanocoenia michelini forms subspheric, leaf-like or encrusted colonies with emerald green polyps.

Laborel (1969a) mentions its presence in the Todos os Santos Bay. The colony described measures approximately 7 x 15 cm and was found at a depth of about 2 m. Other incidences mentioned by this author refer to samples obtained in dredging done along the northeastern coast of Brazil, at depths greater than 30 m, and to corals on the Lixa reef in the Abrolhos region.
