Biography

Associate professor at the Department of Physics of the Earth and Environment of the Physics Institute of Federal University of Bahia (UFBA) since 1992. Reynam Pestana received his B.Sc. in Physics in 1984 and his PhD in Geophysics in 1988, both degrees from UFBA. Dr. Reynam Pestana has a post-doc at Karlsruhe University from 1989 to 1991 and at the University of Texas at Austin from 1998 to 1999. He applies his expertise in Applied Geophysics, working mainly in processing and imaging of seismic data, developing seismic processing methods for complex geologic problems. Recently, he has developed RTM algorithms for VTI and TTI media using pseudo acoustic methods. Dr. Pestana is also a recipient of the Society of Brazilian Geophysicists' Nero Passos award: Educational ad Research Geophysicist.

Membership in Professional Societies: Brazilian Geophysical Society (SBGf); Society of Exploration Geophysicists (SEG) and the European Association of Geoscientists and Engineers (EAGE).
