12. Astrangia rathbuni

Unlike Astrangia braziliensis, Astrangia rathbuni has a laminal base that unites the calices. The calices are 2 mm in diameter, and the live coral is light brown.
Astrangia rathbuni has a very different geographic distribution from that of Astrangia braziliensis. Its registered in the southern Brazilian reef region; from the coast of Rio de Janeiro state to the coast of Santa Catarina, at depths between a few meters to 90 m, fixing itself on skeletal fragments.
